Erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has described as ‘an honour well deserved’, the recognition accorded CP Akin Fakorede, the Commissioner of Police in charge of IGP Monitoring Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja, by popular Reality TV Show, the Brekete Family TV Show, during one of their live programs.
The Brekete Family is a human rights advocacy campaign and media platform led by Ahmed Isa, whose giant strides in exposing rights abuses and other atrocious indulgences by individuals, earned him the sobriquet ‘Ordinary President’. The platform provides a voice for the poor and less privileged in society; exposes corruption and unjust actions through its live radio and TV broadcasts. The program also engages in investigative journalism, mediation and public redress to provide succour to victims of rights abuse, corruption and unjust actions.
During one of its recent live broadcasts, where the activities of the Nigerian Police featured prominently, the anchor of the program, Mr. Isah, was moved with excitement after a foreigner who narrated his ordeal extended a deep sense of appreciation to CP Akin Fakorede, a super cop, for his deep sense of professionalism in handling his concerns.
He had already narrated to the audience all that transpired involving him and others and had expected the usual abracadabra inherent in the hierarchy of the Nigerian Police, but was shocked with surprise when CP Akin Fakorede, cleared his doubt that there still exist men of the Force who are not given to compromise but squarely committed to the principles of professionalism.
Moved with excitement and the aroma of compassion that his story emits, particularly the awe of CP Akin’s difference, the anchor and participants could not help but give a Standing Ovation and salute to the super cop whose policing approach is making obvious difference when contrasted with the usual character of a typical Nigerian Police Officer.
In his reaction, Chief Eze said CP Akin has continued to leave indelible footprints of discipline and professionalism that will serve as models for the rebranding, reorientation of the Police force.
Eze recalled his days as Commander of the defunct SARS in Rivers State, where his courageous tackling of concerns of insecurity returned sanity to the city of Port Harcourt, causing criminal elements to take flight from Rivers State. CP Akin received several awards for his heroic indulgences in Rivers and to the pride of Nigerians, he has continued to make giant strides.
Eze commended the ‘Ordinary President’ and Brekete Family anchor for debunking the false narrative peddled against CP Akin, stressing that it was all the fabrication of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who tried but failed to bribe CP Akin into his deadly plot to appropriate the Police as an annex to his political estate in Rivers State.
The APC Chief encouraged the super cop, CP Akin Fakorede to remain focused in his determination to making a difference in the Nigerian Police and building a career that stands as a model of professionalism in line with every recognized professional standards for men of the force.
