The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a suspected ammunition supplier alleged to be linked to a banditry network operating in Zamfara State.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, operatives of the Tactical Team apprehended the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Ahmed Abubakar of Gusau, Zamfara State, at about 3:30 p.m. on December 7 in the Anguwan Dodo area of Gwagwalada.
Preliminary investigations indicated that Abubakar had been in contact with an associate, Yusuf Mohammed, in an attempt to procure 1,000 rounds of ammunition allegedly intended for supply to bandits in Zamfara. Police findings also revealed that he was reportedly sent by his uncle, Ahmed Yakubu, believed to be a key accomplice and now on the run, to purchase and transport the ammunition for criminal groups active in their community.

The suspect is in custody as police intensify efforts to track down the fleeing accomplice and dismantle the wider network involved.
The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to combating crime across the Territory and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities via the emergency lines: 0803 200 3913, 0806 158 1938, and 0902 222 2352.
