The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, identified as Nura Auwal, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy in Lugbe, Abuja.
The incident was brought to the authorities’ attention on October 24, 2025, after the boy’s father, Mr Sani Yakubu, filed a complaint with the Trademore Police Division. According to reports, the minor returned home distressed on October 23, claiming he had been assaulted in a nearby bush where he had gone to relieve himself. The suspect allegedly threatened the child and gave him ₦200 to remain silent.
Police operatives promptly launched an investigation and apprehended the suspect within the Lugbe community. Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect may have engaged in similar acts in the past, reportedly under the influence of an acquaintance in Katsina State. The victim has since been taken to the Police Hospital in Garki for medical attention.

Condemning the act, FCT Commissioner of Police CP Miller G. Dantawaye reaffirmed the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on sexual and gender-based violence. He assured that the victim is receiving appropriate care and that the suspect will be prosecuted accordingly once investigations are concluded.
The Command urged residents, particularly parents, guardians, and community leaders, to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspected cases of abuse to security agencies.
