FCT Police Commissioner Redeploys Ushafa DPO Over Unprofessional Conduct

The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ushafa Division following a viral video showing the officer slapping a young man on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the Commissioner described the officer’s behaviour as “unprofessional and unacceptable,” stressing that it falls short of the high standards of discipline, civility, and professionalism expected of officers under his command.

CP Dantawaye confirmed that the officer has been redeployed to the State Headquarters pending the outcome of an internal investigation into the incident. He further warned that any act of misconduct or abuse of authority by police personnel would attract strict disciplinary sanctions.

The Commissioner also reminded all DPOs and their subordinates to remain professional, courteous, and law-abiding in the discharge of their duties. He urged members of the public to maintain mutual respect and cooperate with the police to enhance community safety across the FCT.

Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities or misconduct by calling the Command’s emergency numbers: 08061581938 or 08032003913, or by contacting the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) line at 08107314192.
