The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that police officers manhandled private security personnel and prevented the Governor of Bauchi State from accessing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, 18 November 2025.
A viral video had suggested that officers engaged in a physical altercation and obstructed the governor’s movement at Wadata Plaza, Wuse Zone 5. However, the Police Command, in a statement on Tuesday, described the claims as false and misleading.
According to the statement signed by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the brief commotion at the entrance of the Secretariat resulted from crowding at the gate. Adeh clarified that officers only intervened to disperse private security personnel and bouncers who were blocking the governor’s access, ensuring a safe and clear passage ahead of scheduled Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings.

“At no point were police officers involved in any scuffle, nor did they obstruct the Governor as falsely portrayed in the circulating video,” the statement noted.
FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, urged media organisations and social media users to verify information before circulating it, warning that unverified content could mislead the public and generate unnecessary tension in the FCT.
The Command encouraged residents seeking accurate updates to contact the Police Public Relations Office via 07038979348.
The FCT Police Command called on the public to disregard the misleading video and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace, ensuring safety, and supporting all lawful activities within the Territory.
