….. Ongoing Manhunt for Fleeing Suspects
The FCT Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police Ajao S. Adewale, has once again showcased its commitment to fighting violent crime. On June 23, 2025, around 10:30 PM, police operatives successfully thwarted a robbery attempt in the Zone E Extension area of Apo Resettlement, Abuja.
According to a press release on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, signed by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the swift response was triggered by a distress call from a commercial motorcycle rider who reported heavy gunfire in the vicinity. In response, CSP Uchenna Igwebuike, the Divisional Police Officer for Apo Division, promptly deployed his Ambush and Surveillance Teams to the location.
A fierce gun battle ensued between the attackers and the police team. Reinforcements led by DCP Isyaku Sharu, in charge of Operations, arrived quickly at the scene. With superior firepower, the police managed to force the assailants to retreat into nearby hills.
Authorities are now conducting a joint manhunt with local vigilantes to track down those who escaped.

During the incident, three individuals sustained injuries due to the attackers’ actions. A light green Toyota Corolla, registered GWA 620 AU and belonging to one of the victims, was recovered at the scene.
All injured parties were quickly transported to Sahad Hospital in Apo Resettlement for urgent medical treatment. Unfortunately, one of the victims later succumbed to their injuries and was declared dead by medical staff. Their remains have been taken to the hospital morgue.
Commissioner of Police Ajao S. Adewale extends heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family and assures the community of the Command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property throughout the region.
He urges the public, especially those living around Apo Resettlement and adjacent areas, to report any individuals displaying gunshot wounds or suspicious injuries to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency numbers: 08032003913 or 08028940883.
The CP calls on everyone to remain vigilant, compliant with the law, and continue supporting the Police in their ongoing battle against crime.
