Erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has condemned the failed attempt by the camp of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to sell to the public, a false narrative that targets to blackmail the integrity of the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, in a bid to heighten tension in the state and push for an extension of the emergency rule beyond six months.
Recall that the former Head of Service of Rivers State, George Nwaeke resigned a few days back for reasons which he described as personal and assured further that he would work with stakeholders to ensure the peace in the state is sustained and stability achieved in the political playground, in line with the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
However, in a dramatic turn of event, Mr. George Nwaeke was seen in a media parley organized for him on March 28, 2025, by the political faction of the FCT Minister, where, in an attempt to act a strange script crafted for him, he lost his guard and clearly showed signs of a poorly oriented actor who has no good grasp of his roles and now being involuntarily controlled by an external influence.
In the said press conference which was held in an undisclosed location, the former Head of Service was clearly being pressured to make some scathing statements that clearly undermined his integrity. Chiefly, he alleged that the Governor orchestrated the inferno that gutted the House of Assembly Complex through his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie and Chijioke Ihunwo, former Obio/Akpor Council Chairman and blamed the entire political crisis on the Governor and thanked the President for foisting emergency rule on the State.
Same George Nwaeke, would praise the Governor to high heavens at the slightest opportunity, for his prudent management of the state resources, rare benevolence to civil servants and sense of commitment to the development of the state.
The wife of the former Head of Service, on the other hand, who has firsthand information on the official activities of her husband, upon seeing the script her husband had been forced to play, and noticing her husband is neck-deep in a fresh sewage, raised alarm to rebuff the false narrative. In a distress call to the Governor, the wife revealed that her husband had left the house to Abuja on the invitation of his friend Mr. Ogidi, a loyalist of the FCT Minister and Commissioner at the National Population Commission, from Abua, and that ever since, his phones have been unreachable, urging the Governor to help her husband as he was clearly under hostage in an unknown destination.
Again, the woman later granted an interview to clarify further that her husband resigned as Head of Service because he resisted a conspiracy to indict the Governor in a $15 billion schemed scandal. She said her husband’s failure to sign the document to falsely indict the Governor of swindling $15 billion led to his resignation. Despite his resignation, he was framed-up, lured into Abuja in an unholy alliance and forced to play yet another script, though jolted, that had been prepared for him, to smear the image of the Governor.
Chief Eze, reacting said, the FCT Minister is doing everything to truncate all efforts at reconciliation and stability in Rivers State, contrary to the directive of his own principal, President Bola Tinubu.
He said the cardinal interest of the FCT Minister who, in no small measures, has benefited, undeservingly, from the benevolent spirit of the political playground, is to ensure Gov. Fubara unjustly remains out of office in perpetuity. An interest that runs antithetical to democratic norms and the collective stance of Rivers people.
Eze hinted that judging from a recent unguarded statement credited to Nyesom Wike where he expressed approval for the disgraceful media outing of George Nwaeke, it becomes clear that the FCT Minister is the chief-proponent of the entire Nwaeke saga.

He recalled, a few days back, it was reported that a suspect arrested for pipeline vandalism had named a loyalist of the FCT Minister and former Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Mr. Chidi Lloyd, as their sponsor. It was same destruction of oil infrastructure that President Tinubu blamed on Gov. Fubara and cited as one of his reasons for declaring a state of emergency. Little did the public know that the sabotages on national assets were carried out by those who prodded the President to foist emergency rule on Rivers State.
Chief Eze commended the wife of the former Head of Service, who, having known her husband as a man of sound moral, quickly raised the alarm in an attempt to safeguard the integrity of Mr. Nwaeke and that of her family, which has been discredited in the circumstance and urged President Tinubu to stand on the path of truth and not on the potpourri of false narratives and cocktail of lies served him by those who have declared themselves enemies of the state and are hellbent on stifling Nigeria’s nascent democracy under the Tinubu administration, in pursuit of some selfish, private vendetta.
