Gombe Government, ASUU Reach Agreement, Paving Way for Reopening Of Gombe State University

A successful agreement has been reached between the Gombe State Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Gombe State University branch, via the efforts of the Negotiation Team led by Deputy Governor Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau

The resolution, reached today, marks the end of negotiations and sets in motion preparations for the immediate reopening of the institution.

The ASUU Zonal Coordinator, OA Timothy Namo, confirmed the agreement, stating that the union has accepted all terms outlined during the discussions.

He added that the process for reopening the university would begin within the next week to restore academic activities that were halted during the strike.

The Deputy Governor commended the commitment of both the state government and ASUU towards resolving the impasse promptly, expressing optimism that the peaceful resolution will foster long-term collaboration between the government and the university unions to ensure uninterrupted academic activities in the future.

Recall that the Gombe State Government has previously approved significant funds to address the outstanding needs of the university’s staff in its commitment to supporting education and improving the welfare of workers in tertiary institutions.
