Gombe Governor Visits Coordinating Minister Of Health

…Restates Appreciation for FG’s Takeover, Conversion of Kumo General Hospital into FMC

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, earlier today, visited the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Mohammed Ali Pate, in his office in Abuja.

According to a press release signed by the Director-General (Press Affairs) Government House, Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli, the visit is part of the Governor’s continued efforts to engage with key federal institutions, stakeholders, and partners to attract developmental projects to Gombe State.

The engagement with the health minister, which was aimed at strengthening the working relationship between the two leaders, provided an opportunity for the governor to reiterate his profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the takeover and conversion of the General Hospital Kumo into a Federal Medical Centre (FMC).

Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed his gratitude to the President for his support in upgrading the General Hospital Kumo, a state-of-the-art health facility built and equipped by the Gombe State government, to the status of a Federal Medical Centre.

Recall that while reacting to the development, the governor had noted that the conversion and upgrade of the Kumo Hospital would greatly enhance healthcare delivery in the state and provide better services for the people.

“I am deeply grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the conversion of General Hospital Kumo to a Federal Medical Centre. This development will be a game-changer, not only for Gombe State but also in the North East subregion. It will increase access to quality healthcare for our people, reduce medical tourism, and create a robust medical workforce,” Governor Inuwa Yahaya stated.

The Governor also thanked the Hon. Minister for his continuous support and collaboration, recognizing that Professor Pate’s leadership in the health sector has been a key factor in the success of the project and the improvement of healthcare systems across Nigeria.

Recall that during a recent visit to Gombe, Professor Mohammed Ali Pate had commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his exceptional leadership and vision in advancing the healthcare system in the state.

He lauded the governor for his proactive approach, particularly in the area of healthcare infrastructure development, which he noted, has made a significant impact on the well-being of the people of Gombe.

“I must commend Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his commitment to improving the healthcare sector in Gombe. His efforts in transforming healthcare facilities are commendable. This is a model of leadership that others should emulate,” Professor Pate had remarked.
