Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has commended the efforts of the Victims Support Fund (VSF) Taskforce on Covid-19 for its emergency support programme to cushion the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the lives of Nigerians.

Governor Sani Bello made the commendation when he received members of the taskforce on a courtesy visit at the Government House in Minna, the state capital.

The Governor said the intervention would help in addressing some of the challenges the people are faced with while also supporting the health facilities in the state.

Governor Sani Bello then assured the team of the state government’s support in ensuring that the intervention gets to the beneficiaries.

Earlier, the Chairperson, Victims Support Fund Taskforce on Covid-19, Mrs Toyosi  Akerele-Ogunsiji disclosed that food items and personal protective equipment worth N107.9 million has been delivered to the state as palliative measures to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and the vulnerable people as to compliment government’s efforts.

She said the taskforce on Covid-19 is an emergency response team inaugurated by the Chairman of the Victims Support Fund, Retired General Theophilus Danjuma to provide palliative measures to the vulnerable and IDPs across the country.

Mrs Akerele-Ogunsiji said that the Covid-19 taskforce have targeted beneficiaries of the items which, she said, have been profiled.
