…As Students Endorse Governor Inuwa, Promise To Galvanise Support For His Resounding Victory Ahead Saturday’s Elections

The Gombe State Students’ Association, GOSSA has endorsed Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress, APC for a second term ahead of Saturday’s Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

The 72,000-member student body also expressed satisfaction with the Governor’s friendly disposition to the overall welfare and well-being of students of Gombe State origin.

Speaking during a well-attended solidarity visit on the Governor, GOSSA President, Comrade Mohammed Hinna thanked Governor Inuwa Yahaya for always prioritizing the needs of the students with a clear foresight that the youths are the leaders of tomorrow.

He explained that aside from the payment of students’ bursary allowances, the Governor has equally appointed 3 Special Assistants on Students’ Affairs from the three Senatorial Districts.

Comrade Hinna commended the Governor for providing GOSSA with a new bus to assist the association in the day-to-day running of its activities.

He assured that his members will deploy all necessary machinery to galvanize support toward the seamless and overwhelming victory of Governor Inuwa Yahaya.

Responding, Governor Inuwa Yahaya thanked the students for their understanding, cooperation, and support to the present administration in the state, saying his government will continuously support them to actualize their aspirations.

He explained that the decision by his administration to appoint Special Assistants on Students’ Affairs was to serve as a link between the students and the government for effective service delivery.

The Governor recalled that his administration was able to provide an operational vehicle to GOSSA to coordinate their activities thereby linking them with the wider world.

He said the presentation of 370,000 naira and a laptop to each of the 63 law graduates is a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to the welfare of students in the state.

To this end, the Governor directed the Commissioners of Higher Education and Finance to release the sum of 315 million naira for the payment of outstanding students’ scholarships in the state.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya called on the students to come out en masse and vote for the All Progressives Congress in the Saturday Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in the state.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the Director General, of Gombe State APC Campaign Council, Barrister Zubair Mohammed Umar thanked the Gombe State Students for identifying with the laudable programmes of Governor Inuwa Yahaya.

He said in the last three and a half years, the Governor has performed credibly well in delivering dividends of democracy to all sections of the State and therefore called on the Students body not to be swayed by the antics of the opposition parties.

He explained that apart from the earth-shaking infrastructural development like the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park, the Governor has equally enthroned an atmosphere of peace and tranquility in the State.
