Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has reiterated his administration’s unfettered support to youth in the State in order for them to take their rightful positions in the society.
The State’s number one citizen disclosed this on Friday, 25th June, 2021, when he played host to the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, led by its President, Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, during a courtesy visit at the Government House in Lafia.
At the brief but very important ceremony to present to His Excellency the newly elected and subsequently inaugurated Chairman of States’ chairmen of the NYCN, Comr Idris Ojoko , who equally doubles as Chairman of NYCN, Nasarawa State Chapter, the Governor stated “My administration is youth-friendly and will continue to involve the youth in our day-to-day activities in order to bring about the needed change in our society.
“We have a lot of intelligent and hardworking youth in Nasarawa State as well as Nigeria, and it’s only proper for us to support them to take their rightful positions in the day-to-day affairs of our ever-changing society. This, my administration has done through the formulation of various youth-related programmes and policies.”
While congratulating the new chairman, Governor Sule thanked the National leadership of the youth organization for unanimously electing one of the sons of the State into such enviable position, urging youth to get involved in politics in order to bring the change they clamour for.
“Let me use this opportunity to congratulate our son, Comrade Idris Ojoko, on his successful emergence as the NYCN Chairman of Chairmen in Nigeria in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
“This further demonstrates the kind of youth we have in our state and what they are capable of doing once given the chance.
“But I must thank and commend the National President of the NYCN, Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, for his kind comments on the person of the new Chairman and his wonderful roles in the entire elective congress. I think this wouldn’t have been possible without your support.
“May I use this opportunity to call on young persons to venture into politics and other places of power in order to trigger the change they want to see”, he emphasized.
Engr. Sule called on the new chairman of chairmen never to betray the confidence and trust reposed on him by the National President and his colleagues, but to work hand-in-hand with them and other relevant stakeholders to bring about an assured future for youth of the country.
Earlier, the State’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Othman Bala Adam, had told the Governor that the NYCN leadership was at his office for a ‘thank-you’ visit for the support his administration rendered toward the emergence of Comrade Idris Ojoko as Chairman of Chairmen of the NYCN in Nigeria.
Recall that Comrade Idris Ojoko was elected Chairman of Chairmen of the NYCN representing the 36 States of the federation and FCT, Abuja, at an elective congress held on 3rd March, 2021, in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
Climax of the occasion witnessed the presentation of the new chairman to the Governor by the National President of the NYCN, Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, and the presentation of an official vehicle to the chairman by the Governor to enable him carry out his official functions seamlessly.
