Group Berates Faceless Policemen, Says Office Of The Accountant-General Of The Federation, Not The Police, Is Responsible For Paying Salaries

……..Says Adejobi is a pride to Nigeria Police

The Integrity Youth Alliance has lambasted some faceless policemen who complained to Sahara Reporters that the Police management was taking money out of their salaries each month without giving them any justification.

In a press release signed by the Board Chairman of the Integrity Youth Alliance, Adewole Kehinde, he said that the issue of “deduction” in the monthly salary of some policemen is due attributed to the movement from the old Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) payment model under Treasury Single Account (TSA), to the Integrated Payroll and Payment Information System (IPPIS).

The issue of deduction dates back to 2018, and we can still clearly recall that the Police authority, then led by IGP Ibrahim Kpotun Idris (rtd), communicated with the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) assured the Nigeria Police that the reason for the police personnel’s salary shortfall was a system error that was being fixed, according to Adewole.

The statement reads, “The Police is not in charge of police salary but the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation through the IPPIS Secretariat which is a Department under the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation responsible for payment of salaries and wages directly to Government employee’s bank account with appropriate deductions and remittances of 3rd party payments such as; Federal Inland Revenue Service, State Boards of Internal Revenue, National Health Insurance Scheme, National Housing Fund, Pension Fund Administrator, Cooperative Societies, Trade Unions Dues, Association ,Dues and Bank Loans.

“The Integrated Payroll Personnel Information System recently failed integrity testing, according to the National Information Technology Development Agency. The test was carried out between March and June of this year.

“It is on record that the Nigeria Police Budget Department had ensured that all the 42 Mechanised Salary Section (MSS) centers across the country appoint desk officers to receive complaints of under-payment, omission of names on payroll, non-payment, and over-payment being experienced in payment of Police personnel salary.

“We called on all personnel who have genuine complaints to forward them through the Desk Officers in their various commands.

On the description on Adejobi as an embarrassment to the Nigeria Police Force, the Group said that Adejobi remained the best and most acceptable Force PRO in the history of Nigeria Police.

“We wish to remind those police personnel that CSP Adejobi has carved a niche for himself in Police Public Relations Management with the experience he has gained serving as PPRO in different Police Commands and Zone for more than a decade.

“He has also served as Operations Officer, OC Anti Bank Robbery and Anti Pipeline Vandalization, Sagamu Division from 2006 to 2008; Administrative Officer, Department of Operations, Police Headquarters, Ogun State in 2008; Operations Officer, Department of Operations, Lagos State Command Ikeja in 2017; Directing Staff, Police College Ikeja; and as Personal Assistant to The Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Department of Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

“He is a member of several professional bodies and associations, which include: Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR); International Public Relations Association (IPRA); Point Man Leadership Institute, USA; International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), USA; Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP); Boys Brigade Nigeria; and the Institute of Corporate Administration, Nigeria.

“It is as a result of his integrity and pedigree that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba confirmed his appointment as the 25th indigenous Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).

“On a final note, we called on Sahara Reporters to as a matter of integrity do investigating journalism than blackmailing journalism they are known for across the world, the statement concluded.
