IGP Egbetokun Commissions New Mopol Base In Bauchi; Harps On Collective Fight Against Crimes

……. Reassures Establishment of SIS in Bauchi, Other States

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun on Wednesday, 14th February 2024 embarked on a significant working visit to Bauchi State where he emphasized on the critical need for collective effort in combating crimes and ensuring peace and security in the region.

In a statement signed by Force PRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said that during the visit, the IGP held discussions with key stakeholders, including the State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed and reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police to collaborate closely with the government and citizens to maintain law and order.

The IGP also assured of the establishment of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) in Bauchi, alongside other states, aimed at enhancing security measures and addressing emerging threats, effectively underscoring the strategic importance of the SIS initiative in strengthening the security architecture of the state and fostering a safer environment for all residents.

Governor Bala Mohammed commended the IGP for his dedication and efforts towards maintaining law and order, noting that this visit marked a significant milestone as it was the first time an IGP had visited the state in many years. He acknowledged the unique geographical position of Bauchi, sharing borders with seven states, and welcomed the IGP’s commitment to intensifying policing activities to secure the borders effectively.

During the visit, the IGP Egbetokun and Governor Bala Mohammed commissioned an administrative block with seven offices and a conference hall, a standard quarter guard with two offices, an armoury, a 50-meter U-shaped road, and an industrial borehole for the Police Mobile Force Base 10 barracks in Bauchi which was donated by Tiamin Nigeria Limited as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts.

The Inspector General of Police noted that the visit to Bauchi State is a reaffirmation of the NPF’s resolve to safeguard lives and property, foster peace, and enhance security across the country. He also emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies, government institutions, and the public in achieving sustainable peace and development.

The IGP expressed gratitude for the warm reception and pledged to work hand in hand with the state government to promote peace and harmony not only in Bauchi but also across the nation.
