IGP Egbetokun Not After Conspiracy To Damage The Reputation Of Traditional Institutions In The North – SWYA

The South West Youth Alliance has called on the Northern Youth Assembly to allow the Nigeria Police to carry out its constitutional duty of preventing and detecting crime, apprehending offenders, maintaining law and order, protecting life and property, and enforcing laws and regulations.

Reacting to a publication titled “IGP To Exercise Restraint On The Grand Conspiracy To Damage The Reputation Of Traditional Institutions In The North,” published by https://kakaki24.com/, the National Coordinator of the SWYA, Taiwo Adegbenga, said that the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, is not above the law and does not have immunity against police invitation.

“The Inspector General of Police only asked the Kano monarch to appear at the Force Intelligence Department in Abuja on Tuesday, April 8, to answer some questions regarding the incident that occurred during the Sallah celebration within his domain, so we don’t know why the Northern Youth Assembly is “crying more than the bereaved.”

“We are challenging the Northern Youth Assembly to prove to the whole World that the invitation of Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II,” is about power, visibility, and intimidation” or face legal action of defamation of the Inspector General of Police

On a final note, we wish to remind the Northern Youth Assembly that obstructing or resisting a Nigerian Police officer in the discharge of their duty is a criminal offense under Nigerian law, specifically outlined in Section 98 of the Police Act 2020, the statement concluded.
