IGP Egbetokun Presents N2.2bn Cheque To Families Of 613 Deceased Personnel

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has presented cheques worth two billion, two hundred and seventy-six million, one hundred and ten thousand nine hundred and sixty-six naira, and eighteen kobo to 613 families of police officers who died in active service.

IGP Egbetokun gave these Cheques at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The cheques were presented to the beneficiaries today, November 16, 2023, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The life assurance scheme is being funded by the federal government, while the IGP family welfare scheme is funded by the Nigeria Police Force.

The IGP noted that he had given a cheque for 347,533,946 million, which was presented to 709 deceased police officers at his first presentation on July 14, 2023. He added that in his second presentation on September 26, 2023, a total amount of one billion, three hundred and two million, five hundred and ninety-seven thousand, two hundred and sixty-nine-naira, fifty-four kobo (1,302,597,269,54) was given to 420 deceased police officers.

He charged them to use the money for the benefit of the families left behind by the deceased officers.

Egbetokun said the gesture was part of the IGP’s efforts to sympathize with the families of the deceased and also to upkeep their day-to-day life challenges.

He also commended the Force Insurance Officer, CSP Ameh Lydia Enemona, and her team, who worked tirelessly to ensure that the initiative became a reality.
