“In a connected world, cybersecurity is a shared responsibility.” ― Newton Lee,
In an age where technology drives communication, commerce, and connectivity, the threat of cybercrime has become one of the most pressing challenges facing nations worldwide.
I wish to commend the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to ensuring a secure digital environment for all Nigerians. His leadership continues to strengthen the nation’s collective resolve against the growing menace of cyber threats.
Tackling cybercrime requires a collective effort — one that extends beyond law enforcement. It is a shared responsibility involving individuals, businesses, government agencies, and civil society.
In today’s digital era, every Nigerian must be both a user and a guardian of their own cybersecurity. Awareness, vigilance, and responsible digital behavior are essential to protecting ourselves and our communities from online exploitation.
I must particularly appreciate the unwavering support of IGP Egbetokun for the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF–NCCC). Through his guidance, the Centre has remained steadfast in fulfilling its mandate to build national awareness and resilience against online threats.
The IGP’s foresight in prioritizing cybersecurity as a cornerstone of public safety reflects his understanding that a secure nation today is also a digitally secure one.
The recent Cybercrime Awareness Campaign organized by the NPF–NCCC stands as a testament to this vision. It further reinforced the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s digital space and empowering citizens to “Stay Smart, Stay Safe” online.
With continued collaboration and sustained public enlightenment, Nigeria can look forward to a safer, more resilient digital future for all.
