The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun on Thursday 30th November 2023, received the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, and other senior military officers at the Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja on an official visit to the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen the working relationship between the Police and personnel of the military in the task of securing the nation both internally and against external aggression.

The Defence Chief congratulated the IGP on his appointment and recent confirmation while extolling the officers and men of the Police Mobile Force for their gallant turnout during joint operations in troubled areas. He decried the unfortunate attack on the Adamawa State Police Command by some soldiers and assured that a thorough investigation had been launched into the incident.

He also urged all security agencies to embark on a reorientation drive of their personnel for a more harmonious working relationship. He further cautioned officers and men of the military and police to shun unnecessary rivalry while calling for joint training sessions for the lower cadres of the Armed Forces and the Police to build rapport and enhanced cooperation.

The Inspector General of Police similarly congratulated the CDS on his well-deserved confirmation of appointment noting that the Police is committed to improved synergy between all security agencies for better security management.

The IGP stated that he was pleased with the assurance that the Adamawa incident was being investigated and expressed optimism that the process would be thorough and transparent to prevent a repeat of the unfortunate incident.

According to the Force Public Relations Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said that the IGP played host to the Minister of Women Affairs, Barr. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye and her team, as well as the Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Prof. Fatima Waziri-Azi, Ph.D., where issues bordering on gender sensitivity and inclusiveness were discussed.

The IGP assured of improved collaboration with all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for effective policing architecture in Nigeria.

The Inspector General of Police has guaranteed that the Nigeria Police is committed to healthier partnership particularly in the areas of data collection, support on transfer of gender sensitive cases, as well as those bordering on human trafficking. He expressed confidence that with a more harmonious relationship comes higher responsibility to one another and improved security for the nation.
