Integrity Youth Alliance Condemns Sowore’s “Reckless And Misleading” Post

The Integrity Youth Alliance has condemned what it described as a “reckless and misleading” social media post by the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Mr. Omoyele Sowore, accusing him of resorting to blackmail and misinformation for personal and political gain.

In a statement signed by Kelvin Adegbenga, the National Coordinator of the group, the IYA said Sowore’s latest outburst, which attempted to drag respected public figures such as Hon. Ned Nwoko, Mrs. Regina Daniels, and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, into baseless controversies, was a “desperate bid for attention.”

The group described as false Sowore’s insinuation that Ned Nwoko used the Nigeria Police Force to intimidate or silence anyone, insisting that the claim was “a figment of his imagination deliberately concocted to smear reputations and mislead the public.”

According to the statement, “At no time did Hon. Ned Nwoko use the Nigeria Police Force or any of its apparatus to threaten or intimidate anyone. The IGP has absolutely nothing to do with Sowore’s alleged grievances.”

The Integrity Youth Alliance further debunked Sowore’s assertion that the Nigeria Police Force is being led by an “illegally appointed IGP,” stressing that Egbetokun’s appointment followed due process and reflected the confidence of the Federal Government in his leadership.

The group also dismissed claims that IGP Egbetokun presides over a “collapsed Police Force,” saying his tenure has been marked by reforms that emphasize professionalism, transparency, community policing, and improved welfare for officers.

“IGP Egbetokun has redefined the image and integrity of the Force more than any of his predecessors in recent history,” the statement noted.

The IYA accused Sowore of falsely posturing as an advocate for police welfare, pensions, and gratuities, describing his activism as “a scam for personal gain consistent with his long record of opportunism and sensationalism.”

The statement urged Nigerians to disregard Sowore’s “baseless and self-serving claims” and continue to support the reforms being implemented under IGP Egbetokun’s leadership, whom it described as “a man of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to a better Nigeria.”
