Integrity Youth Alliance Counters Sowore’s Claims Against IGP

The Integrity Youth Alliance has dismissed as false and misleading the comments made by African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, during an interview on News Central TV, where he alleged that the charges against him by the Nigeria Police Force under the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, were “baseless and desperate.”

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Kelvin Adegbenga, the group described Sowore’s claims as reckless, stressing that there are no inconsistencies in the charges filed against him.

According to the group, the Nigeria Police Legal Directorate is made up of seasoned professionals with competence, integrity, and experience, and its work is firmly rooted in due process and the rule of law, not political sentiments.

The statement further noted that it is not Sowore’s place to declare the outcome of a matter pending in court. It urged him to allow the judiciary to determine whether the evidence presented supports or disproves the allegations against him, rather than attempting to sway public opinion through media appearances.

The Alliance also reminded Sowore that commenting extensively on cases already before the court could amount to contempt, stressing that his approach amounts to a mockery of due process and an attempt to blackmail respected public institutions.

Reaffirming confidence in the leadership of IGP Egbetokun, the Integrity Youth Alliance said the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to the principles of justice, fairness, and the rule of law.
