Integrity Youth Alliance Refutes Claims Against CP Akin Fakorede On River Park Estate Crisis

The Integrity Youth Alliance has debunked media insinuations that the Head of the IGP Monitoring Team, Abuja, CP Akin Fakorede is attempting to undermine the Committee set up by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to probe the lingering River Park Estate crisis.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Alliance National Publicity Director, Danjuma Lamido clarified that at no time did CP Akin Fakorede act in a manner that contravenes the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, who had ordered a further probe into the matter for the sake of justice and transparency.

The group also dismissed the narrative being circulated by Sahara Reporters, insisting that the report of the Special Investigation Panel (SIP) never provided the kind of comprehensive analysis as falsely insinuated.

According to the Alliance, the SIP’s work, though important, does not foreclose the statutory powers of the Nigeria Police Force to carry out additional criminal investigations where necessary.

Reaffirming the supremacy of the law, the Integrity Youth Alliance noted that neither the FCT Minister nor the Attorney-General of the Federation has the constitutional authority to halt or prevent a criminal investigation once a prima facie case has been established. “Justice is not served by political or bureaucratic interference; it is served by the rule of law,” the statement read.

The Alliance concluded by stressing that CP Akin Fakorede’s correspondence on the matter should not be misinterpreted as desperation or a calculated attempt to launder a disputed claim through bureaucratic channels. Rather, it reflects a genuine commitment to ensuring that due process and the rule of law prevail.
