The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State, CP. Paul Odama has embarked on a tour of Omuaran, Offa, Iloffa, and Bode Sadu Area Commands, covering Irepodun, Ifelodun, Moro, Oyun, and Oke Ero LGAs.
According to a press release on Thursday, 12 January 2023 signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Command SP Okasanmi Ajayi, said that the mission, which was to inspect the preparedness of officers and men in the mentioned area commands, commenced on Tuesday, 12 January 2023.
The goal was to see firsthand the extent to which all the directives of the IGP concerning deployment and respect for the rights of the citizens and residents were being complied with. The CP has also been exposed to the strengths and weaknesses of the officers in the visited area commands. This is to enable the CP to familiarize himself with the peculiarities of each division, especially their areas of strength and weakness.
The CP interacted with stakeholders of diverse interests, including traditional rulers, local government officials, community leaders, sister agencies, vigilantes, hunters, and the youth.
Some of the demands made by speakers in the town hall meeting organized by the area commanders included the supply of more patrol vehicles and personnel to the area. The meeting had in attendance the Olomu of Omuaran, the Aloffa of Illofa, and other top traditional rulers in the area; professional bodies, hoteliers, bankers, Fulani Ardos, Magazines, Vigilantes, hunters, and artisans; Okada and Keke Napep riders; the youth; and other sister security agencies.
Issues bothering on a crisis-free election, the security of lives and property, especially the issue of kidnapping, cultism, and gangsterism, were fully and robustly discussed. Far-reaching decisions were made, which indicated that with the implementation of those decisions, elections and other security issues would become a thing of the past.
In the same vein, CP Paul Odama convened a meeting of all service commanders in the state at the police command headquarters in Ilorin, where General Security issues, 2023 Election Security, and illegal mining operations in some parts of the state were discussed.
The Command wishes to add that the remaining kidnap victim in the Oluwalose area of Okolowo has been successfully rescued this morning.
The CP assures the people of this state of the determination of all the security agencies in Kwara State to work together as one to ensure a crisis-free, credible, and acceptable general election in February 2023.
