….parade Suspected Armed Robbers, Secret Cult members, Ritualists
The Kwara Police Command on Friday said a medical doctor, Dr. Ayodele Joseph will be charged in court for gross indecency and rape while parading ten suspects over alleged armed robbery, secret cult members, and ritualists.
SP Ajayi Okasanmi, PPRO, Kwara Police Command, disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the Police Headquarters in Ilorin.
According to him, on the 5th of May, 2023, one female victim (Name Withheld), a nurse by profession, reported to the Police that she went to Ayodele Hospital at No. 290, Sawmill Area, Lagos Road, Ilorin for surgery.
She added that the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Ayodele Joseph, during the treatment, sedated her which led her to become unconscious.
Quoting the nurse, Okasanmi further explained that before the sedation, fearing any mishap, the patient activated her telephone and placed it in a vantage position to record the surgery.
However, unknown to the doctor, before the expected surgery, she woke up from sleep after the surgery to find herself fully naked, and when viewing the recorded video, she discovered that Dr. Ayodele Joseph had unlawful sexual intercourse with her while under sedation.
The Police image maker said: “Investigation led to the recovery of the video recording of the sexual activity of the said doctor on the victim which was also corroborated by the medical examinations conducted on the victim.
“This same suspect had recently been arraigned in court by the Police for the offenses of Criminal Conspiracy, Negligent Conduct, Causing Hurt by Act Endangering life or Personal Safety of Others, and Culpable Homicide arising from his unprofessional conduct resulting in the death of one Nneka Akanike ‘F’ in his hospital under a questionable circumstances.
“This led to him being charged in court. He would be charged to court again for rape after the conclusion of the investigation.”
In another development, the Command PPRO paraded Olaoye Oladapo and Isaac Idowu for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery while two others were still at large.
Okasanmi said, “On the 17th of April. 2023 at about 2205hrs, one Tijani Wasiu ‘m’ of Alalubosa Area Kishi, Oyo State reported at E Division Kulende Ilorin that at Amala Place along Fate road Ilorin, he was intercepted by four masked armed men and his unregistered Volkswagen Golf 3 saloon car was snatched under gunpoint.
“Investigation into the matter led police detectives from the command to Bida in Niger State where one Olaoye Oladapo was arrested in possession of the stolen vehicle and he confessed to be one of the robbers that snatched the vehicle from the victim. He also confessed to having just been released from prison after serving a prison term of three years.
“Further investigation led to the arrest of the 2nd suspect Isaac Idowu ‘m’ who took part in the robbery operation. It is pertinent to state that the suspect has just been given a State pardon from prison. Efforts to arrest the other suspects still at large are ongoing.
“Investigation also revealed that the suspects are members of notorious robbery gang terrorizing some parts of the State and of the habit of shooting their victims to death during such operations.
The Command also paraded 5 suspected cultists namely; Aluku Ridwan, Kabiru Fatai, Saadu Alubu, Aminah Muhammed, and Zainab Lawal.
Exhibits recovers from them are: Dried weeds suspected to be Indian hemp; a Quantity of hard drugs suspected to be ‘ICE’ and Two Knives
The Command spokesperson said, “On 26/04/2023 at about 2300hrs operatives attached to the Anti-robbery section of the State Command acting raided a black spot around Gambari/Oja gboro area and discovered at Kokewu-Kobere area, Oja Gboro a criminal hideout, where five suspects were arrested with incriminating items such as Dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, some quantity of hard drugs called “ice” and other dangerous weapons. Investigation conducted revealed that the arrested suspects are members of secret cults that terrorize innocent citizens of the area and dispossess their valuable properties.
The Command also said that “Acting on actionable intelligence, the duo of Adeniyi Wasiu ‘m’ aged 27 years and Habeeb Morufu ‘m’ aged 27 years were arrested at about 1100hrs of 10/05/23 at Alao Farm area of Tanke oke ogun Ilorin, Kwara State by operatives attached to Anti Narcotics section of the command.
“During the investigation, the residence of the suspects were searched and the following substances suspected to be illicit drugs were recovered by the detectives.
(1) Some weeds are suspected to be Indian hemp.
(2) Some sachets of Tramadol.
(3) 8 bottles of codeine syrup.
(4) Some sachets of ice.
(5) One sachet of Refnol.
(6) Some sachets of Colorado.
(7) Some sachets of Skunk.
“On interrogation, the suspects confessed to being the owners of the drugs and that they sell the drug to students and interested members of the public. Effort is ongoing to arrest others at large.
“The suspects would be transferred to NDLEA for conclusive investigation and prosecution.
The Command also paraded suspected ritualists namely: Mahmud Abdulraheem of Egbejila, Ilorin. ( Herbalist); Abubakar Bamidele of Lagos and Odekunle Fawad of Lagos.
Okasanmi said, “While on intelligence patrol of the Metropolis, OC CP Monitoring section and his team around General round about accosted the above-named suspects who were already in a commercial vehicle on transit to Lagos, on body search, assorted charms and other fetish items suspected to be for ritual purposes was recovered from them.
“Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the second and third suspects came from Lagos to Ilorin to meet the first suspect who is a herbalist to do money-making charms for them. It was also confirmed that the two suspects from Lagos are internet fraudsters popularly called Yahoo boys.
“They were on their way to Lagos to complete the money-making ritual process before they were arrested.
“All the suspects would be charged in court after the investigation.
