Kyari Assures Motorists Of Steady Availability Of Autogas At Competitive Prices

The Group Managing Director of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, Mallam Mele Kyari has assured motorists of steady availability of Autogas at competitive prices.

Kyari reveal this when he delivered his Address at the Presidential Virtual Rollout of the National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP) on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 in Abuja.

“NNPC is also expanding this initiative to all NNPC Retail Filling Stations across the Nation, while assuring motorists of steady availability of Autogas at competitive prices, Kyari said.

He further said, “NNPC is expanding its Natural Gas footprint across the Nation in order to support industrialization and job creation through the ongoing gas infrastructure projects including the OB3 gas pipeline connecting East and West, the ELPS II which is expected to boost supply to the Western corridor and the AKK gas pipeline that will supply gas to Abuja the Federal Capital Territory, Kaduna and Kano States.”

“Under the leadership of Your Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari and the Hon. Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, H.E Timipre Sylva, the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources is working towards the implementation of the palliative measures agreed with Organized Labour.”

“Today, Your Excellency, Mr. President is launching Five (5) Gas-powered Mass Transit Buses which will be handed over to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC); and over ten (10) LPG-powered vehicles for different users, including Government Agencies.”

“To support this effort, NNPC is providing free conversion services in some selected NNPC Retail Filling Stations to assist interested motorists switch from PMS to Autogas especially in areas with existing Autogas service stations in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi, Kwara, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Lagos, Edo, Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa States.”

The NGEP was inaugurated in January this year by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva, in furtherance of the domestic gas expansion programme of the Federal Government.

The NGEP is expected to promote gas as replacement fuel and also save the nation the much-needed foreign exchange expended on imported fuels by providing alternatives to petrol, diesel and kerosene.

According to the report, selected filling stations across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory had been informed, as plans to collocate Autogas dispensing facilities at the outlets had reached advanced stages.

“Consequently, plans have reached advanced stage in line with ministerial directive and support for the development of LPG, CNG and LNG collocation in NNPC-owned and operated mega stations in the 36 states and the FCT.
