Labour Party Slams Abure Over Shady Meeting With Wike

… Reminds Public Embattled Former Nat’l Chairman Doesn’t Represent LP

…Insists He Was An Opportunist Who Popped Up To Fracture LP From Within

The Labour Party has reminded the public that Julius Abure, its embattled former national chairman, remains suspended from the party and has no legitimate authority to represent LP anywhere, for whatever reason.

The party said it is reiterating the position following a viral photo on Sunday, which showed Abure in a handshake with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, after an alleged meeting with the latter.

The alleged meeting was announced the same Sunday by Wike’s aide, Lere Olayinka.

Reacting to Lere’s information, Special Adviser, Media, to the acting national chairman of the party, Ken Asogwa, said, “As always, the circulated image of Abure socializing with known political saboteurs only reinforces what many Nigerians already suspect: that he is a shameless opportunist, propped up by those desperate to fracture the party from within.”

Asogwa’s statement continued in parts, “While Mr. Peter Obi is diligently focused on addressing critical national issues, and Senator Nenadi Usman is attending high-level meetings abroad with his full consent—both working in the supreme interest of the Labour Party and the Nigerian people—Barr. Julius Abure, the suspended former national chairman of the party, is busy hobnobbing with the very forces that are hell-bent on annihilating the party.

“Abure, who continues to falsely parade himself as the National Chairman of the Labour Party, has shamelessly chosen to align himself with the very political forces responsible for the systemic collapse of our political party and that which we are fighting to overcome.

“Instead of standing with the people, Abure is seen wining and dining with the sponsors of oppression, tyranny, and electoral malpractice.

“His actions lend further credence to our long-held position: that Julius Abure is not just unfit for leadership but a willing tool in the hands of external forces bent on destabilising the Labour Party from within.

“For someone who claims to be the national chairman of the party, he went completely missing at critical times when the party required leadership, unity, vision, and strategic grassroots mobilization. Abure was completely absent during the critical local government elections in Lagos where leadership presence was needed the most.

“He further demonstrated his disdain for the movement by ignoring the official unveiling of the party’s campaign for the upcoming gubernatorial elections in Anambra State, even as he earlier boycotted similar party programmes in Kogi, Edo and others considered symbolic of our collective strength and resolve.

“His dereliction of duty, compounded by his ongoing fraternization with political adversaries of the New Nigeria vision earned him suspension from the party. And his constant romance with these outside forces raises a fundamental question: Whose agenda is Julius Abure truly serving?

“It is evidently not the interest of the people, nor that of the Labour Party, but rather that of the very establishment he once pretended to oppose.

“As always, the circulated image of Abure socializing with known political saboteurs only reinforces what many Nigerians already suspect: that he is a shameless opportunist, propped up by those desperate to fracture the party from within.

“The Nigerian people can now judge for themselves who the real villains were in the internal crisis that plagued our great party.

That said, it is important to remind the public that Mr. Julius Abure remains suspended. He no longer holds any legitimate position in the Labour Party. As far as the Labour Party is concerned, he is no longer a member of our ranks.”

The statement emphasized that “Labour Party must be rescued, rebuilt, and returned to its true owners – the Nigerian people. It must not, and will not, be left in the hands of crooked individuals who trade its soul for personal gain while others continue to make sacrifices for a better, fairer, and more just Nigeria.”
