The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a commercial taxi driver, Adedayo Ben Adegbola, for allegedly raping, assaulting, and robbing female passengers across different parts of the state.
Adegbola, whose photo recently went viral online after some victims raised an alarm on social media, was arrested on October 31, 2025, at about 9:40 a.m. by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, following a directive from the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, a discreet investigation launched after victims filed complaints led to the apprehension of the suspect, described as “vicious and notorious.” The red Toyota Corolla, allegedly used to commit the crimes, with registration number JJJ 226 HT, was also recovered as an exhibit.
The police confirmed that Adegbola is currently in custody as efforts continue to track down other accomplices believed to be connected to the attacks.
Victims of the suspect have been urged to report to the SCID, Panti, to assist with further investigations. The Command assured that their identities would be safeguarded.
CP Jimoh reaffirmed the police’s commitment to ensuring justice for survivors and maintaining the safety of all residents, adding that further updates on the investigation will be provided in due course.
