The Lagos State Police Command has declared political activist and publisher Omoyele Sowore wanted over what it described as an attempt to instigate a crisis and disrupt public peace in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, CP Jimoh Moshood, announced this on Monday while briefing journalists in Lagos.
According to Moshood, Sowore allegedly moved around parts of Lagos in a vehicle while livestreaming and urging residents to protest. The Police Commissioner accused him of “mobilising miscreants to disturb the peace” and warned that security agencies were closing in on him.
“Omoyele Sowore should come down from his vehicle instead of doing videos from the car and moving around Lagos. He is wanted for attempting to cause a crisis and violence in the state.”

“He should report himself to the nearest police station immediately. He will be prosecuted,” Moshood said.
The Commissioner further stated that residents of Oworonshoki, whose properties were recently demolished by authorities, had been “well compensated”, questioning why Sowore would allegedly mobilise youths to protest on the Third Mainland Bridge.
“We have confirmed that affected residents were duly compensated, so why instigate unrest? Lagos is peaceful, and we will not allow anyone to disrupt the peace of law-abiding citizens,” he added.
Moshood disclosed that 13 individuals, described as miscreants and hoodlums, were arrested on the Third Mainland Bridge with a truck, loudspeakers, and a generator, allegedly intended to obstruct traffic.
The police say investigations are ongoing.
Sowore, at press time, had yet to respond to the police declaration.
