The Lagos State Police Command has initiated an investigation into a viral video showing a police officer attempting to arrest a bus conductor in the Ikorodu area of the state.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the video depicts a police officer trying to subdue a violent bus conductor who was allegedly resisting arrest. The suspect, along with the driver of the commercial bus, reportedly obstructed police and LASTMA officials from carrying out their lawful duties.
The bus was said to have been deliberately used to block traffic, causing significant gridlock and hardship for road users. During the attempt to arrest him, the conductor allegedly stripped himself naked in a bid to evade arrest—an action captured in the viral footage.

SP Adebisi confirmed that the officer involved has been identified and is currently under investigation to assess whether his conduct during the incident was appropriate. The conductor has also been contacted and is expected to appear before the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, on Monday. The impounded bus is now in police custody as part of ongoing investigations.
CP Jimoh urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and promptly report any violations of their rights by police officers, assuring that such complaints would be thoroughly addressed. He, however, warned against unnecessary dramatization aimed at discrediting officers performing their lawful duties, noting that resisting arrest is a criminal offence.
The Command reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and ensuring that police personnel conduct themselves in line with the law.
