Lagos Police Recover Nine Exotic Vehicles, Weapons As Security Improves

The Lagos State Police Command has recovered nine exotic vehicles and an assortment of weapons in ongoing operations aimed at combating crime across the state.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, disclosed this on Monday during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters, noting that the recoveries were part of intensified crime-prevention strategies for the ember months, which have contributed to a noticeable decline in violent incidents.

According to the Commissioner, most of the stolen vehicles were taken by drivers or car wash attendants entrusted with them. He said swift police action led to their recovery in various parts of the state.

The recovered vehicles include a white Toyota Hilux, a white Range Rover SUV, a black Toyota Land Cruiser, a silver Lexus GX 460, a silver Honda CR-V, a grey Toyota Corolla, another Toyota Corolla with registration number JJ AS 87 JJ, a Toyota Highlander, and a Boxer Bajaj motorcycle.

Also recovered were four locally made pistols, a single-barrel shotgun, multiple cartridges, a machete, a fabricated firearm, an assault dagger, a battle axe, charms, and $4,000 in counterfeit foreign currency.

“These recoveries reflect the effectiveness of the strategies deployed across Lagos,” CP Jimoh said. “The state has remained peaceful with no major security breaches since September. We are firmly in control.”

He attributed the improved security situation to strengthened community policing structures, regular convoy patrols, show-of-force operations, and sustained cooperation from residents.

Jimoh advised vehicle owners to be more cautious when handing over their cars to drivers and car wash personnel, stressing that many thefts stem from misplaced trust. He assured that the police respond swiftly to distress calls and have been successful in tracking and retrieving stolen vehicles.

Ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities, the Commissioner reassured residents and visitors of their safety, noting that additional personnel have been deployed to schools, worship centres, public utilities, and recreational locations.

“No one should panic or alter their travel plans,” he said. “Lagos remains safe, secure, and fully prepared for the festive season. We intend to sustain these gains into the new year.”

The Command urged Lagosians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through its dedicated hotlines.
