LP Acting National Chairman Nenadi Mocks Tinubu Over APC Fighting In North East

In a striking turn of events, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent remarks celebrating the perceived disarray within the opposition have triggered an unexpected crisis within his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Days after the President boldly stated his delight at what he termed the “moment of disarray” among opposition parties, particularly the Labour Party, the North East chapter of the APC has become embroiled in a tumultuous upheaval. Critics argue that Tinubu’s comments reflect a disheartening disregard for the fundamental tenets of democracy, as a leader who revels in the weakening of political adversaries inevitably undermines democratic integrity itself.

The internal discord surfaced amidst the APC’s controversial attempts to impose a “one-man agenda”, sidelining key figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima. This decision has not only alienated party loyalists but has also drawn public ire from the constituents of the North East, who expressed their rejection of the unfolding political charade. Reports indicate a growing rift, with allegations of smuggled party officials and escalating tensions looming over the APC’s unity.

Senator Nenadi Usman, PhD, Acting National Chairman of the Labour Party, addressed the situation in a statement, describing it as “political karma” for the ruling party. She asserted that the fallout from Tinubu’s earlier remarks serves as a poignant reminder of the necessity for democratic principles like respect, dignity, and accountability in governance.

“This is not poetic justice,” Usman emphasised. “What President Tinubu wished for others has now plagued his own political household. The attempt to undermine Vice President Shettima is a clear signal that loyalty, dignity, and truth are being sacrificed in the corridors of power.”

Usman’s statement called on Nigerians to recognise the importance of healthy political opposition in safeguarding democracy. Emphasising the role of the Labour Party, she affirmed their commitment to fostering an environment where dissent is not only tolerated but valued as a crucial component of democratic health.

“In this critical moment, we urge every Nigerian to look beyond the noise and seek leadership that embodies humility, truth, and national interest,” Usman proclaimed. “Nigeria deserves better than the politics of sabotage and suppression.”

As the APC grapples with its internal challenges, it remains to be seen how these developments might influence the political landscape ahead of upcoming elections. For now, the nation’s focus is drawn to the implications of a government that finds itself ensnared by the very dynamics it seeks to exploit.
