The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun State Command has decorated an unprecedented total number of 746 newly promoted officers.

A statement on 23rd December 2023 signed by the Civil Defence PRO, Osun State Command, ASC Adeleke Kehinde, said that the breakdown of the total number of promoted officers from the command is as follows:

Six (6) Deputy Commandants of Corps

Thirty-three (33) Assistant Commandants of the Corps

Thirty-six (36) Chief Superintendents of the Corps

One Hundred and Twenty (120) Superintendents of the Corps

One Hundred and Twenty-seven (127) Deputy Superintendents of the Corps

Two Hundred and Ninety-Five (295) Assistant Superintendents of Corps (I)

One Hundred and Twenty Nine (129) Assistant Superintendent of Corps (II)

While decorating the newly promoted officers at the state command’s headquarters in Osogbo, the state Commandant, CC Agboola Sunday described the promotion as an award of excellence, dedication, hard work, loyalty and discipline. He, therefore, appealed to the newly promoted officers to see their promotion as another step in their bright career.

While congratulating the officers, Commandant Agboola also lauded the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni, OFR for approving the promotion of 21, 385 for NSC. He said they have made an indelible mark on the Corps members which would be difficult for anyone to surpass.

He urged the newly promoted officers to justify the promotion, charging them to imbibe selflessness in the discharge of their duties. He advised beneficiaries to increase their efforts in combating crimes and to make Osun state safer for the general public

The Osun NSCDC boss, however, encouraged those who did not benefit from the promotion exercise not to be deterred. He admonished them to continue to work hard and be hopeful that their promotion would arrive in due course.

While delivering his goodwill message, Air Vice Marshal A. I Amodu of the Nigerian Air Force Research and Development Centre, Osogbo, said the spouses of the newly promoted officers must be well appreciated for supporting their husbands and wives’ careers. He said without their cooperation, the promoted officers would not have qualified for the promotion.

Air Vice Marshal Amodu who earlier congratulated the newly promoted officers charged them to be more dedicated and committed as their performance on the promotion would attract further promotion. ‘’The new rank comes with certain obligations, I urge you to be prepared,’’ he said.

Speaking on behalf of the newly decorated officers, Deputy Commandant of Corps, Keshinro Olukemi appreciated the Commandant General for finding the beneficiaries worthy of the promotion. She thanked everyone in attendance and assured the Commandant General of increased dedication to duty. She promised that the promotion would spur them to do more for the nation, to justify their elevations to the next ranks.

The decoration ceremony was well attended by service commanders across Osun State, family members of the promoted officers and well-wishers.
