The Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mal. Mele Kyari has dedicated the 2020 Swift Reporters Accountability & Transparency Meritorious Award to Nigerians.
While receiving the 2020 Most Accountable and Transparent Government Agency award, on behalf of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation on Wednesday in Abuja, Kyari said that NNPC is owned by Nigerians; therefore he dedicated the award to Nigerians.
He promised to sustain the Transparency, Accountability and Performance Excellence (TAPE) initiative.
The Publisher of Swift Reporters, Adewole Kehinde during the presentation said that the Swift Reporters Accountability & Transparency Meritorious Award was inaugurated in 2020 to boost the accountability and transparency administration of the Buhari’s Government.
He further said that NNPC have demonstrated, over a significant period of time, dedication to the promotion of Accountability, combined with strong Transparency activities.
“The NNPC under the capable GMD, Mal Mele Kyari has continued to publish more things that Nigerians need to know, particularly details of petroleum products supply and distribution which is an area most people don’t understand, Adewole said.
He said that the NNPC has gained more in terms of reputation and goodwill from being transparent; not forgetting that trust in business requires corresponding responsibility of accountability to all stakeholders.
Adewole listed some of the actions of the current NNPC leadership that earned the NNPC the award and it include; Publishing of the DSDP contract winners, refineries rehabilitation efforts and signing of Key Performance Indicators by top management.
“I commend the Transparency, Accountability and Performance Excellence (TAPE) initiative of the GMD as it has repositioned the oil and gas sector, Adewole concluded.
