The Integrity Youth Alliance has said that the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Mele Kyari, didn’t shun the House of Representatives ad hoc committee probe panel.
Reacting to various media reports on Tuesday, the Board Chair of the Integrity Youth Alliance, Adewole Kehinde, said that it was known to the public that Mele Kyari traveled with President Bola Tinubu to New Delhi, India, on September 4, 2023, for a six-day official visit.
Kyari was part of the Nigeria-India Presidential Roundtable and Conference, where he mobilized international funding for infrastructure development, including a new investment of $8 billion in the expansion of its fertilizer production and petrochemical facility in Eleme, Rivers State.
“Mele Kyari is not known for shunning invitations extended to him and the management team at the House of Representatives; he is an ambassador of transparency and accountability.
“The Chairman of the probe panel, Hon. Abubakar Nalaraba, could have allowed any other senior management team to represent the GCEO of NNPC Limited since the company is run transparently, in order to meet the committee deadline since he claimed that they were far behind schedule in the discharge of their assignment.
“We believe that Mele Kyari runs a transparent company with the entire management being carried along, so any of the management team members can answer all the questions related to the acquisition of OVH Energy Marketing, Adewole said.
Recall that the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the irregularities and alleged corruption in the Nigerian energy security provider, the NNPC Limited, and the acquisition of OVH Energy Marketing commenced hearings on Monday.
