Dr Musa Muhammed Maikaya, Chief Executive Officer of the Maikaya Development Foundation and a leading aspirant for the 2027 Nasarawa State governorship race under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has intensified his consultation efforts with a visit to the southern region of the state.
Fresh from a recent foreign trip, Maikaya paid a private visit to elder statesman Alhaji Audu Igbo in Lafia, the state capital. The visit comes amid increasing calls and endorsements from youths, women, and party stakeholders urging him to contest the 2027 governorship election.
Maikaya, who has already declared interest in the race and is seeking the party’s endorsement, has continued to emphasise unity within the APC. His reputation as a humanitarian, rooted in initiatives across education, healthcare, youth and women’s empowerment, has drawn support from the southern, northern, and western parts of the state.
Several groups, including the Nasarawa South Progressive Network and other APC-affiliated bodies, have openly endorsed him as a credible successor to Governor Abdullahi Sule, citing his commitment to development and continuity.
A statement issued by the Maikaya Media Office on Sunday, 23rd November 2025, described the visit as part of ongoing strategic efforts to strengthen grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 elections. The statement added that Maikaya enjoys strong backing from political leaders at both national and local levels due to his developmental track record.
Maikaya said his visit to Alhaji Audu Igbo was aimed at appreciating supporters and acknowledging the goodwill extended to him even during his time abroad, describing the widespread support as “a collective strength”.
He prayed for Allah to grant Alhaji Audu Igbo long life, good health, and continued wisdom as the state approaches another election cycle.
In his response, Alhaji Audu Igbo commended Maikaya for consistently prioritising the welfare of the people in his interventions. He offered prayers for his success and assured him of the continued support of his community.
The meeting further highlights the strengthening political alliances shaping the build-up to the 2027 governorship election in Nasarawa State.
