Nasarawa Police Debunk Report Of Alleged Abduction At St. Peter’s Academy

The Nasarawa State Police Command has dismissed as false a viral report claiming that two pupils of St Peter’s Academy, Rukubi, in Doma Local Government Area, were abducted by suspected kidnappers.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, an unverified alert emerged around 10:00 a.m. on Friday, alleging that the pupils were kidnapped while participating in sporting activities on the school field.

Acting swiftly, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, deployed a combined team of police operatives and military personnel to the area.

Investigations at the scene revealed that the pupils had panicked after sighting hunters carrying Dane guns and fled, mistaking them for kidnappers. Security personnel subsequently combed the area, restored calm, and confirmed that no abduction took place. The school proprietor also affirmed that the alarm was a false one.

The Police Command noted that the area remains under close surveillance to prevent any security breach.

It urged the public to disregard the kidnapping report, describing it as misleading and unworthy of circulation. The Command also advised journalists and media organisations to verify information before publication to avoid spreading misinformation.
