The Ndigbo Young Professionals has commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for commissioning of 59 new armoured utility vehicles for the Nigeria Police Force, describing the development as a major boost to national security.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Amb. Chukwuemeka Chinonso, the group said the armoured vehicles will enhance the Force’s operational efficiency, improve response time to emergencies, and strengthen surveillance and patrol coverage in both urban and rural areas.
“This milestone will not only deter criminal activities but also rebuild public confidence in the ability of the Police to safeguard lives and property,” the statement read.
The group also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his unwavering support to the Nigeria Police Force, noting that his administration’s commitment to security sector reforms has provided the leadership and resources needed to reposition the Force for optimal performance.
While applauding the initiative, the group urged officers and commands entrusted with the vehicles to ensure proper use, accountability, and regular maintenance, stressing that judicious deployment would go a long way in curbing crime and promoting peace nationwide.
Reaffirming its support for policies aimed at strengthening security institutions, the group called on the Police to sustain the current momentum of reform and modernization.
