The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd), CON, OFR, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a “true statesman, patriot, and servant-leader” whose legacy will resonate through generations.
In a heartfelt tribute issued on Monday, July 14, General Marwa lauded the late President for his unwavering dedication to the service of Nigeria, both as a military Head of State and as a two-term democratically elected President. He noted that Buhari’s leadership was marked by discipline, courage, and a profound sense of duty to the Nigerian people.
“His tenure was defined by steadfast efforts to restore discipline in governance and a relentless pursuit of security and stability during some of the most turbulent times in our history,” the statement read. “He championed infrastructural development, advanced agricultural reforms, and worked to build a self-reliant and proud nation.”
Highlighting Buhari’s personal qualities, Marwa described him as a man of integrity, humility, and strong moral conviction, who inspired calm and led with quiet resolve. “His simplicity and personal discipline set him apart,” he said. “Even outside politics, he remained a principled leader driven by deep faith and a genuine concern for the welfare of the ordinary Nigerian.”
The NDLEA boss extended his condolences to the late President’s family and urged Nigerians to take solace in the enduring impact of Buhari’s leadership. “We stand with his family in grief and offer our prayers and support during this time of profound loss,” he added.
Concluding his tribute, Marwa prayed for eternal rest for the former President:
“May the Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, grant the soul of our departed leader Al-Jannah Firdaus.”
