New Plateau Police Commissioner Talks Tough

…..Says eyes will not sleep until some disgruntled elements are fished out and dealt with.

The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Okoro Julius Alawari, has said that his eyes will not sleep until some disgruntled elements who want to make Plateau State home of wars and woes are fished out and dealt with severely by the laws of the land.

CP Okoro made this known on Wednesday at the police command headquarters in Jos, during his maiden briefing with Journalists.

He said that having properly studied the security architecture of the State, he has re-strategized and deployed new methods to tackle the Security challenges the people of the state face, which range from kidnapping, Banditry, Armed robbery, and Arm Run, theft, attacks on villages, which are more prevalent these days in Barkin Ladi, Riyom, and Mangu LGAs, farmer herders’ clashes, and cattle rustling.

CP Okoro also promised to open more Police Stations where there are none.

“All Police Posts and outstations that were previously closed down will also be reopened. In some of our communities, we will be upgrading outstations to Police Stations, the CP reiterated.

He urged the state police operatives to continue their dogged performance and show of professionalism that they had been exhibiting before his deployment to the State.

“To those officers whose exercise of duty is characterized by lack of seriousness, incivility, and unprofessionalism toward members of the public, I would like to remind you that this job is built on utmost discipline, and that is exactly what I demand from you.

“I, therefore, warn that under my watch, all unprofessionalism and acts of corruption will be severely dealt with by the first schedule of the Police Act and Regulation, which entails the procedure for discipline within the Force.

The Police Commissioner promised to work hand-in-hand with other security agencies on the Plateau to synergize with them and bring peace to the State.
“I am using this medium, therefore, to call on all my sister agencies to work with us as we ensure the peace of the Plateau together.

“Also, to my security help groups on the plateau, such as the Neighborhood Watch, the Hunters, VGN, and other security help groups in our local communities, I want to also use this medium to call on you to give our Area Commanders, DPOs, and members of our Tactical Teams all necessary support when you come across them in your various communities.

During the briefing, the CP announced the arrest of six more suspects in connection with the Mangu attack, making a total of eight arrests so far.
