Niger Dynamite Explosion: NEMA Working With NSEMA In Response To Incident

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has been alerted of a dynamite explosion in a residential area of Sabon Pegi, Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 26th January 2025, at about 7:30 am.

The exploded dynamite was reported to have been kept by a local artisan miner in the wrecked apartment that he had rented for his workers. Some residents of the area were affected by the incident, and property was destroyed.

The NEMA Minna Operation Office and the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) are working together in response to the incident.

Meanwhile, the Niger State Police Command has confirmed that an explosion that rocked the Sabon Pegi area of the Mashegu Local Government Area of the state on Sunday was caused by dynamites stored in a residential building.

According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the explosion led to the death of one Fatima Sadauki, while six others sustained injuries and were rushed to General Hospital Kainji, New Bussa, for medical attention.

He further revealed that the incident affected about 12 houses in the area, causing significant damage to properties.
