The Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), under the leadership of Dr Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun, in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force’s Force Education Unit, officially commissions the POWA Model Children School in Sum, Bogoro Local Government Area, Bauchi State, today, Thursday, 15th May 2025.
According to a press release on Thursday 15th May, 2025, signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, this glamorous event featured the inauguration of a Police officers children primary school (POWA Model School), a ground breaking ceremony for a proposed Police Secondary School, a fundraising initiative to support ongoing educational projects, and an empowerment programme aimed at supporting families of police officers and residents of the host community.
Dr Mrs Egbetokun in her remarks stated that the project is more than just “bricks and mortar”. “It embodies a vision for a brighter future. It is a place where our children, the future doctors, lawyers, accountants, professors, engineers, police and military officers and most importantly, leaders of POWA, will receive quality education that nurtures their mind, strengthens their character and prepares them for a successful life.
The event had in attendance His Excellency, Senator Bala Mohammed, Executive Governor of Bauchi State, as the chief host and chairman of the occasion. He was represented by his special adviser on legal matters, Hon Barr Jidauna Tula. The Governor in his remarks lauded the efforts of POWA and pledged the support of the Government of Bauchi state in future projects to come in areas of education and across other sectors of life.
Also in attendance was the Gombe State Governor and the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, Alh Yahaya Inuwa, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar, the Chief launcher of the occasion, Alhaji Yakubu A. Maishanu, OON, Chairman/CEO of A.Y.M Shafa Holdings was also represented by his wife, Hajiya Mariya Yakubu Maishanu, the Chairman of the Occasion, Alhaji Bala Wunti, the Assistant Inspector- General of Police in-charge of Zone 12 Headquarters, AIG Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu psc and his lovely wife, Commissioner of Police Bauchi State, CP Sanni-Omolori Aliyu, amongst other dignitaries and guests.
“This landmark initiative underscores the shared commitment of the Police Officers’ Wives Association and the Nigeria Police Force to expand access to quality education, support the welfare of police families and host communities, and harness education and empowerment as drivers of youth development and national progress.
“The NPF will continue to lead strategic social impact programmes that nurture the next generation of responsible citizens and foster sustainable community development, Adejobi.
