The Nigeria Police Force has commenced the maiden edition of its Insurance Sensitisation Programme, marking a major milestone in efforts to enhance the welfare and financial security of police personnel.
According to a press release signed by the Force Spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the sensitisation sessions were successfully held at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command and the Nasarawa State Command, drawing participation from officers across all Area Commands and Divisions.
The programme, designed to enlighten officers on available insurance and welfare benefits, featured a comprehensive lecture by ACP Ameh Lydia, the Force Insurance Officer.
She highlighted the various insurance packages accessible to serving officers, including the Nigeria Police Welfare Insurance Scheme, the Group Life Assurance Scheme (as provided under Section 4 of the Pension Reform Act, 2004), the Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme, and the IGP Family Welfare Scheme.
ACP Lydia explained that these schemes collectively provide broad coverage for officers throughout their service, guaranteeing financial protection in the event of accidents, injuries, or death in active duty.
Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to personnel welfare, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, described the initiative as a reflection of his vision to build a motivated, secure, and future-conscious Police Force.
He emphasized that well-supported officers are better equipped to deliver professional and effective policing services to the nation.
