A Nigerian Navy officer, Captain (NN) AO Akano, has distinguished himself as the best graduating student of the Security and Defence Studies Programme 11/25 at the South African National Defence College.
According to information obtained by TalkJudith from the official Facebook page of the South African National Defence, Capt (NN) Akano graduated on 12 November 2025, earning top honours among officers drawn from across several nations.
Remarkably, Capt. Akano becomes the second non–South African to clinch the overall best student award since the inception of the programme. The first was also a Nigerian officer, Captain (NN) Obute, who won the award in 2022.
This achievement once again underscores the excellence and professionalism of Nigerian military officers on the international stage.
