The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has approved the promotion of 523 staff members as part of its 2025 promotion exercise, marking a significant end-of-year milestone for the Commission.

The approval was granted by the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMC, Engr. (Dr) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s GCFR Renewed Hope Agenda. The promotions form part of the statutory performance reward system for staff who met the required conditions as stipulated in the Public Service Rules (PSR).

According to the breakdown, two staff members were promoted to the Director cadre (Grade Level 17), while eight officers advanced to the rank of Deputy Director (GL 16). Thirty-five staff members were elevated to the Assistant Director cadre (GL 15).

In addition, 35 officers were promoted to the rank of Chief Identity Officer (GL 14), while 109 advanced to Assistant Chief Identity Officer (GL 13). A total of 113 officers moved to the rank of Principal Identity Officer (GL 12), 82 were promoted to Senior Identity Officer (GL 10), and 130 officers advanced to Identity Officer I (GL 9).

Congratulating the newly promoted staff, Engr. Coker-Odusote urged them to view the advancement as a renewed opportunity to serve the nation with greater dedication and professionalism. She reiterated the Commission’s zero-tolerance stance on extortion and warned staff to strictly desist from such practices.

The DG/CEO further encouraged all NIMC staff to redouble their efforts in 2026 to ensure the successful implementation of the National Identification Number (NIN) project. She also reaffirmed her commitment to prioritising staff welfare and upholding the dignity of labour across the Commission.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke (PhD), and dated December 13, 2025.
