The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has further strengthened its role in Nigeria’s Digital identity ecosystem with the donation of 350 NIMC certified Android National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment Devices by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
The Postmaster General of the Federation/Chief Executive Officer, NIPOST, Tola Odeyemi, formally received the KOICA team led by the Country Director, Mr. Eunsub Kim at the NIPOST Corporate Headquarters, Abuja. The visit featured the official handover of the enrolment Devices, marking another milestone in the partnership between NIPOST and KOICA.
In her remarks, the Postmaster General of the Federation expressed profound appreciation to KOICA and the Government of the Republic of Korea for the generous donation. She described the intervention as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s digital future, noting that the Devices will significantly enhance NIPOST’s capacity to deliver accessible and inclusive NIN registration services nationwide—particularly in underserved and hard-to-reach communities.

Odeyemi emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s mandate to provide Nationwide access to essential public services. She further noted that NIPOST’s extensive national footprint positions the organization as a critical enabler of inclusive digital identity enrolment and a key contributor to Nigeria’s broader digital transformation agenda.
The KOICA Country Director commended NIPOST for its strategic contributions to National Digital development and explained that the Devices were provided under KOICA’s ongoing project, “Building Foundations Towards Digital Governance in Nigeria.” He disclosed that the Devices come fully equipped with pre-installed enrolment Software Licenses, alongside training and delivery support to ensure smooth deployment and effective utilization.
Mr. Kim stated that KOICA remains committed to supporting Nigeria’s Digital Governance efforts and ensuring that citizens across the country have easier access to essential identity services. He explained
that the intervention forms part of a four-year initiative (2022–2026) aimed at achieving key Digital Governance milestones, including the update of Nigeria’s e-Government Master Plan to Version 2.0, development of enterprise architecture frameworks for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), digital capacity building at National and Sub-national levels, and the creation of Nigeria’s first single-window Government Service Portal (GSP).
He noted that as the forthcoming GSP will rely heavily on NIN authentication, NIPOST’s enhanced enrolment capacity places it in a strategic position to support citizens in accessing future digital public services.
Consequently, the KOICA Country Director requested NIPOST’s collaboration in onboarding at least one NIPOST digital service onto the GSP and encouraged the designation of a focal person to liaise closely with Galaxy Backbone Limited to ensure seamless coordination.
KOICA, the Grant Aid Agency of the Government of the Republic of Korea, has been a longstanding development partner to Nigeria since 2008, supporting initiatives in e-government, governance reforms, digital capacity building, and ICT infrastructure development across the country.
The donation of the 350 NIN enrolment Devices further reinforces NIPOST’s expanding role in Nigeria’s Digital identity ecosystem and underscores its commitment to improving citizens’ access to convenient, efficient, and inclusive NIN registration services Nationwide.
