NITDA Trains Directorate Cadre Of Public Service

The National Information Technology Development Agency NITDA, has commenced training of Batch A on Executive Course II e-Government Training for public servants, in a bid to further implement the National e-Government Master Plan and inculcate the usage of electronic technology in carrying out government activities.

The training which is specifically designed for Directors, Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors from the public service is taking place at the e-Government Training Centre in Abuja.

The Director of the e-Government Training Centre Prof. Suleiman Mohammed while delivering his opening remarks, stated that the purpose for the training is to ensure that the application of electronic technology in running government activities become part of the Public service.

He said, “Instead of the traditional methods of running government we are preaching use Information Technology (IT) to do that”, which he said involves transactions of government with citizens and governments of other nations.

He stated that as citizen you expect that when transacting with government it should be electronic in nature.
He added that the benefits of e-Government include but is not limited to; increased efficiency, transparency in government activities, reduced cost of governance.

The training will run in eight batches with each batch undergoing training for two days.
