No War Between Police Service Commission And IGP Egbetokun; The Supreme News Goofed – Youth Alliance

…..Orders for investigation of Joe Omokaro

The Integrity Youth Alliance, an organisation monitoring the development trends in the Nigeria Police Force for over 15 years, has said there is no cold war between the Police Service Commission and IGP Egbetokun as made believe by the Supreme News.

Reacting to a publication titled “Tension In Police As 400 Officers Retire Forcefully “Resign To Avoid Hypertension” the National Coordinator of the Alliance, Kelvin Adegbenga said that the publisher of the Supreme News, Joe Omokaro is well known for publishing false news on the person of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun as analysis shows every news on the Supreme News is always against the IGP.

“We are stating categorically that no indicted officers and their sympathisers are causing internal disharmony in the Force. The disharmony is the figment of the Supreme News’ imagination.

“The Supreme News is fond of claiming “sources” which are fabricated to substantiate his false publication.

The statement read further, “No right thinking officers, serving or retired will urge IGP Egbetokun to retire honourably, as the relevant Sections of the Police Acts are very clear on his tenure of office.

“It is completely false that the tenure of Egbetokun had been characterised by crisis. Egbetokun’s leadership has created a sense of purpose and duty in recruits, and his reforms are already creating a more credible and citizen-friendly police force.

“It is glaring that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has implemented various reforms to achieve professionalism in the force and some of these reforms include Zero tolerance for corruption; Promoting transparency; Emphasis on values; and Continuous learning, Adegbenga said.

“To finally prove The Supreme News goofed, it says that “AIG Idowu Owohunwa now AIG in charge of INTERPOL National Central Bureau”. AIG Idowu Owohunwa is AIG in charge of Zone 12 Bauchi, comprising Bauchi and Gombe Police Command.

“We therefore call for investigation of the Supreme News and its publisher, one Joe Omokaro for always publishing misinformation and hate news, the statement concluded.
