Normalcy Returns To Karu After Protest By Okada Riders

Normalcy has been restored in Karu, a satellite town in Abuja after some commercial motorcycle operators popularly called “Okada,” on Sunday took to the streets to protest.

A reliable source that the protest was as a result of the discovery of one dead body of their colleague at different times close to a Cemetery around the area

The commercial motorcycle operators had earlier barricaded the popular Nyanya-Karshi dual carriage way around the Karu Market with burning tyres, cutting off traffic and causing gridlock.

However, calm returned to the place after a combined team of the Police and Army successfully dispersed the rioters.

Residents of Karu, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi among other towns in the FCT have been reassured of adequate protection of their lives and property when Swift Reporters spoke to the FCT Police Command Spokesperson, ASP Mariam Yusuf.
