The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF–NCCC) has held a one-day Cybercrime Awareness Campaign in Abuja, aimed at strengthening digital resilience and enhancing public understanding of online safety across the country.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), DIG Sadiq Abubakar, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to ensuring a secure digital environment for all Nigerians.
According to a press release on Sunday, 12th October 2025, signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, in his address, the Director of the NPF–NCCC, CP Uche Ifeanyi Henry, expressed gratitude to all partners and stakeholders for their sustained collaboration and support. He stressed that tackling cybercrime requires a collective effort, adding that “in today’s digital era, every Nigerian must be both a user and a guardian of their own cybersecurity.”
According to CP Henry, the campaign aligns with the Centre’s mandate to build national awareness and resilience against online threats. He noted that the initiative will continue to evolve through expanded cyber education, improved reporting mechanisms, and stronger enforcement strategies.
The event attracted over 3,000 participants, including students, representatives from government and private institutions, digital platforms, and security agencies. Highlights included an awareness walk, distribution of sensitisation materials, and a musical fiesta designed to drive home the campaign’s message in an engaging way.
The awareness campaign further reinforced the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s digital space and empowering citizens to “Stay Smart, Stay Safe” online.
