The Nigeria Police Sports has received the news of the demise of retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Moses Ambakina Jitoboh, whose sad passing occurred on the fateful 27th day of December 2024 with deep shock and unquantifiable grief.
According to a press release on Saturday, 28th December 2024, signed by the Public Relations Liaison Officer, SP Atabor Job, the Force Director of Sports (FSO), CP Patrick A. Atayero, said that on behalf of NPF Sports, amidst heartfelt sorrow, condoles the bereaved family of the late DIG (Rtd), who was a renowned sports icon, avid sports lover, philanthropist, and administrator per excellence. The FSO further condoles the Nigeria Police Sports family, all of whom have benefitted in several ways from the wealth of experience of the late retired DIG, known to be a man of many actions and few words.
Late DIG Jitoboh was a mercurial member of the Nigeria Police Force Sports family, who started in the early 90s as a Star Athlete and won several laurels for and in the Force in Sports including Basketball, Chess and Scrabble. He was one time Vice Chairman of the Police Chess Association as well as Chairman of the Police Basketball Association. He was very importantly, a former Chairman of the Force Sports Planning Committee – the committee responsible for the planning and organising of the Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA) for the NPF.
“The Late DIG (Rtd) will surely be remembered for his numerous contributions to sports development within and outside the NPF sports circle, as well as the positive impacts of his membership in civil sports clubs in line with community policing ethics. He will be sorely missed.
“It is earnestly prayed that the good Lord God Almighty, in His infinite mercy, may grant the soul of Late DIG Moses Ambakina Jitoboh (Rtd), mni, eternal rest in peace. Amen. The thoughts and prayers of the NPF Sports Secretariat are with the family of the deceased, the NPF and Nigerian sports families in general, that God may grant all divine consolation and the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
