The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun State Command has arrested seven people, who are filling station attendants, managers, and supervisors at different locations in Osogbo, Osun state.
A statement signed by the Civil Defence PRO Osun State Command, ASCII Adeleke Kehinde, said that the arrest took place Wednesday 31st May 2023, while the Anti-Vandalism Unit of the command, went around the state capital to monitor sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
Visit to most of the filling stations around Lameco, Stadium, Owode Ilesha Garage, Ilesha garage roundabout, and Ayepe axis, all in the state capital revealed that they had fuel in their reservoirs but refused to sell to members of the public. While queues were seen at various filling stations, these unscrupulous marketers insisted on inflicting pain on their customers.
According to ASCII Kehinde, upon being asked about their refusal to sell fuel, most of them said they were waiting for approval from their headquarters.
The State Commandant of NSCDC reiterated that the Corps would continue to clamp down on any illegal activity that is aimed at frustrating the efforts of the Federal government by making the fuel products unavailable to Nigerians.
Commandant Agboola, therefore, called on members of the public to report filling stations that are hell-bent on bringing untold hardship to the masses. He noted that fuel hoarding is tantamount to economic sabotage and offenders would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
